Helium Mobile has launched the nation's first free 5G phone plan. The "Zero Plan" offers 3GB of data, 300 texts, and 100 monthly minutes at no cost. Due to tremendous demand, a waitlist has been opened.
Key features include a user-operated network and crypto token rewards for node operators. There's optional data sharing for MOBILE token earnings and a cloud points system for gift card redemptions. The service runs on the Helium 5G network, powered by user-operated nodes around the United States. Node operators on the Solana blockchain receive crypto tokens for providing a service. Paid plans are also available. The first plan is the Air Plan — for $15 per month, you get 10GB of data, and unlimited call and text. The $30/month plan (Infinity Plan) gives you unlimited data, text messages, and calls.
Helium Mobile follows a bring-your-own-device policy. This restricts access to individuals who can afford to purchase a handset outright. Coco Tang, General Manager of Helium Mobile Subscribers, explains, "This is more than just a free phone plan — it's a movement to make wireless service accessible, affordable, and rewarding for everyone."
The people-powered community has the nation's largest 5G network. Through its novel mobile service model, it seeks to empower users over corporations.
