The notorious hacker organization "Pink Drainer" has struck again. This time Pink Drainer stole $4.42M in Chainlink (LINK) tokens. The hackers stole 275,700 LINK tokens from the victim in two quick transactions using a phishing attack.
According to Lookonchain, the unidentified victim was duped into authorizing an "Increase Approval" transaction after clicking a phishing link. As a result, the hackers stole a large sum of money. They divided the loot, with 68,925 LINK going to a wallet known as "PinkDrainer: Wallet 2." The rest went to an account known as "Fake_Phishing269918."
The victim had been purchasing LINK since June 2022, accumulating 290,750 LINK tokens worth $2.26M. At the time of the hack, the victim's assets had grown to $4.66M.
Pink Drainer's hacking spree has grabbed headlines, particularly for hacks on Discord and Twitter. According to Dune Analytics, Pink Drainer had stolen more than $18.6M from almost 9,000 victims. Its largest robbery, for $1.38M, occurred on July 19, 2023. Now, this hack takes the place of the largest robbery made by the group this year.
