Institutional interest in Bitcoin ETFs has skyrocketed. In just 11 months, institutional holders increased by 54.5 times, from 61 to 3,323. This increase reflects the rapid mainstream acceptance of crypto investments.
BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF leads the pack, with $56.4B in assets under management (AUM). Total AUM for all U.S. Bitcoin ETFs currently surpasses $113B. Major investors, including Goldman Sachs and Millennium Management, have significantly increased their holdings. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley says, "We're entering a mainstream era where institutions will bring Bitcoin to more people." This shift is clear in the statistics. Institutional holdings now account for around one-third of US Bitcoin ETF assets.
Looking ahead, experts predict even more growth. Matt Hougan, Bitwise's CIO, expects 2025 inflows to surpass 2024's $35.2 billion. He believes total inflows could reach $59B this year alone.
As more wealth managers access these products, the potential for further expansion is enormous. Bitcoin ETFs are poised to attract trillions of dollars in the coming years.
