Google Cloud has increased its involvement in blockchain and Web3 technologies by hosting a validator on Celo Network, a layer-1 blockchain designed to provide Web3 users with a mobile-first experience. 

Google Cloud's decision to run a validator on Celo follows its announcement that it will assist the Celo Foundation's Founders in Residence program. Other Celo Network validators include Deutsche Telekom and impactMarket. 

Celo's community governance recently approved a cLabs proposal, allowing the Celo network to shift to a layer-2 scaling solution based on Ethereum. The move will stimulate practical ideas to help the environment and people worldwide. 

The Blockchain Node Engine on Google Cloud will help with the move to layer-2 by offering a safe and reliable transaction relay without the need to sync nodes, resulting in speedier node operations.
