The 2023 edition of Art Basel in Miami Beach, held from December 8th to 11th, marked its 21st occurrence in Miami, originally hailing from Switzerland. This year's event was notably managed by Bridget Finn, a New York-based gallery owner and curator. Despite a slight decrease in the number of gallery exhibitions, with 277 participating, the fair continued to draw attention.
A significant aspect of this year's Art Basel was the pronounced integration of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and the fashion industry. NFTs, representing digitally-designed clothing, accessories, and footwear, solely exist in the virtual realm. This blending of art and technology reflects the evolving landscape of art forms, placing the creation of NFTs on par with traditional art-making like oil painting and sculpting. Consequently, NFTs have become a part of the art fair, attracting brands and creators of these unique digital assets. The event was a hotspot for artists from various disciplines, brand representatives, influencers, models, and other notable personalities, all converging in Miami for this innovative and diverse weekend. Not to mention the events curated by these communities, let's get into some:
