One standout encounter was with Sarai Mora, affectionately known in the art and tech worlds as “Creatress.” Sarai is not just any artist; she’s a visionary, blending virtual reality and fine art to create something truly unique. Living in Maui, Sarai uses her Meta Quest Pro to sculpt with light, crafting 3D pieces that she then shares with the world through blockchain technology.

Sarai, could you share your overall impression of EthDenver?
This is my second ETHDenver, my overall impression is it was pretty fantastic all around! There was something for everyone, I got to connect with artists, developers, founders, Nouns Amigos and even the Pizza DAO Mafia!
What aspects of the event stood out to you the most?
One of the aspects I loved this year was the podcast lounge! I got a chance to record multiple episodes of my show “There’s Layers to this” with friends live in the middle of the whole festival, with a live audience! Never before had I seen this available at an event and it was for free to all attendees!
Reflecting on your time at EthDenver, what would you say were your biggest takeaways or moments of insight:
Upon reflection, my biggest takeaway is to get out of your comfort zone and be open to meeting new people at these events! I’d also say I’ve found that the best introductions always come from your existing friends, so follow the love and you’ll find the right people.
Among the various activities and experiences available at EthDenver, what were you most looking forward to?
I was hoping to learn more about the new developments with ethscriptions and ordinals, both of which I’m pretty new to and I got to meet builders and founders working on exciting new “minting” or “inscribing tools” artists will be able to use.
You performed live during the event. Can you tell us a bit about the preparation that went into this performance?
Performance preparation really is two main categories; the TECH first, making sure the VR headset and the screens are all connected and wifi is strong. The second thing is about getting to know the energy of the place, the event and the audience. I walk around and get to connect with and know who is at the event, all of those interactions influence the performance as much as the music. Each person has a different color aura or energy and I try to represent that in the artwork.
Could you describe the live show you presented in Denver?
For the opening party on the 28th I did a live 3D sculpting performance, using my virtual reality headset, over 100 screens across two floors at the venue, and music. I created a virtual sculpture to represent that moment in time. The energy of everyone I saw that day, those dancing around me on that LED dance floor, the names of those near me asking to be included in the sculpture’s depths, it all was interpreted as form.
What themes or messages were you aiming to convey through your VR/AR art?
I like to remind people that my performances are really very rare collaborative shared moments in human history. Every event has a different group of people, different market sentiment, different EMP fields (from our hearts) all radiating and bouncing off one another, I’m just interpreting all of that into 3D form. You get to mint it and use it in augmented reality after I’m done so you can continue the collaborative aspect and create mixed reality art with it.
Looking back, how has participating in EthDenver different from other events you have participated in?
ETHDenver has just been hands down better prepared and planned out than the majority of events I’ve participated in. From the crypto tokens for onsite food trucks to the podcast lounge, to the hackathon structure of events and support for builders to attend, it’s definitely the leader and seems to get better every year.
