US DOJ Seeks to Revoke SBF's Bail Over Witness Tampering

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) seeks to revoke Sam Bankman-Fried's bail. The DOJ claims that Bankman-Fried tampered with witnesses and disclosed Carolyn Ellison's diary to the public in a July 28 court filing.

Bankman-Fried, released on bail after repeated bail modifications, allegedly attempted to recontact FTX US' general counsel by email and Signal, asking to establish a constructive relationship.

The DOJ asserts that Bankman-Fried obstructed the inquiry using Signal's auto-delete function for shady ends.

Judge Lewis Kaplan has several alternatives for handling this situation. He could change the terms of Bankman-Fried's release on bail or revoke it altogether.

The Justice Department previously charged Bankman-Fried with making 100 calls to an NYT reporter and disclosing Ellison's journal to the media to "intimidate" his former partner and coworker.
